The Privilege of Praying Together

We began this month’s prayer meeting with a short time of worship, and reflection on the fact that it is a privilege to be able to come before God in prayer and petition. We were honest about the reality that sometimes we lose the wonder of this incredible prerogative, and instead just come before God with a list as if He is some kind of divine vending machine.

  • We spent some time centring on God, and asking the Holy Spirit to guide out hearts to a closeness with Him, bringing prayers to him as our loving Father who cares about us, and is pleased for us to approach Him with humbled hearts.

  • We spent some time praying for our congregation, the surrounding area, and for our missionaries who had been contacted prior to ask for specific prayer requests.

  • We spent time praying for the persecuted church: for strength and boldness; that they would know the love of God; for Bibles for them; and that those who have been shunned by their friends and families would find comfort with their Christian brothers and sisters.

  • Finally we spent time praying for revival in Scotland.
