persistence in prayer
I struggle with unanswered prayer or prayers that are on-going for a long time—knowing that all prayers are heard, I know they shall be answered; or may have already been answered and I just don’t realise it.
However, when prayer is answered almost instantly I’m sometimes taken by surprise! Recently, at a Refuge pre-service time of prayer I was very specific in a prayer request and even before the service had begun, God had guided me to speak to a particular person, as a response to my prayer. God places a responsibility on us when He leads us to certain people who share their story—often quite harrowing and difficult to hear. It is not a coincidence when God answers prayer and leads us to be a listening ear. We are privileged to be used in such a way.
God reminds me (especially regarding long term prayers) that I ‘should always pray and not give up’ so that I am also alert when a much quicker response is needed.
He gives us stories ///
Throughout Advent, Refuge is posting a selection of stories of God’s work in our lives. Each morning of Advent, we will be sharing these stories for the encouragement and upbuilding of the Church—and to testify to His greatness. For the series introduction click here.
