A powerful story
When I had recently read the powerful story of how an Old Testament king had thrown three innocent men into a ravaging fire, I was reminded of the power of such a story. These young men would not be swayed from following God and as a result were going to be punished in a way that you would expect to result in fatal consequences. God, however, had other plans, and saved them from death—appearing and walking with them through the fire pit. This resulted in them walking free and alive, unblemished and filled with a renewed faith in God the Father.
our own walk through fire
Six weeks ago, when my own family was told by our father that the cancer, he had once waved goodbye to, had come back in a rare and aggressive form, we began to face our own walk through fire. The immediate emotions of fear, sadness and worry would find themselves on our doorsteps—if not even more so on my dad’s. The forecast of life-changing surgery and lengthy period of rehabilitation all seemed a bit foreign to us as a family.
Immediately, we shared this news with our community of fellow followers of God
Immediately, we began praying and handing it over to Him
Immediately, we were able to store up all the good moments of each passing day and cherish them more than before
Immediately, we felt God draw alongside us in our walk through fire
Our human lives on earth will, one day, come to an end; but with eyes focused on God, we can walk through the ever changing fires of life knowing that we will not perish. We have a Saviour.
