He gives us stories /// dream of water

through every change

This past year I have found myself facing many changes in my life: some have been exciting whilst others have been heartbreaking; some within my control and others outwith.

Throughout the turbulence of these times I have been completely overwhelmed with God surrounding me with His love and the various ways He shows this to me.

One day a couple of weeks ago, I had a dream about a body of water, a lake that was so incredibly still, the surface like glass. This water started to stir, gently to start then faster and faster until what was a lake became a large and powerful river with rapids that raged relentlessly and tore through the landscape. It was full of life and the moss and plants underneath the water were a rich, bright green.

I have had a few dreams in the past which have been so completely vivid that they have left me in no doubt that that were from God. This dream was certainly no different and I have been amazed at how creatively and personally He can speak to me in this way. As I gazed at this river I was overwhelmed by the relentless and unstoppable force of God’s love. Through change and disappointment He holds us, invites us to jump in and be swept up in a life that is exciting—

life in all its fullness
John 10:10b

This is life with the One who created us and cares for us more than we could possibly begin to imagine.

By now it was a river over my head, water to swim in,
water no one could possibly walk through...
When I returned, I was surprised
by the sight of many trees growing
on both sides of the river.
— Ezekiel 47:5,7
